We have had an incredible day, which for some started at 3.30 am with the call to prayer from the local mosque. It is very loud!

Manger Square, with loud mosque. Casa Nova is on the right.
Mass was at 5.55 am in the very place where Jesus was born, which is now in the Grotto of the Church of the Nativity. It is difficult to organise Mass there, and we only did so with the help of a local priest, Fr. Mamdouh, of the School of Joy (more later). Knowing the significance of this place, Mass was an emotional experience for many in the group. There is so much to say about this, that I have selected some 'photos for you, all taken in, and around the Church.
The modest entrance to the Church, which is being renovated.

Fr. Jean-Patrice, and Fr. Leo, celebrate Mass in the Grotto
Trish reads at Mass. We were joined by many local people, and pilgrims.
Fr. Leo prays at the "Star of Bethlehem", the place where Jesus was born.
Fr. Jean-Patrice prays at the place where Jesus' Crib stood.
